If you are into health trends and are connected to social media in some way, chances are you may have heard of the term "grounding". The simplest way to describe it is this: Standing barefoot on grass, dirt, or sand connects you to the earth for the benefit of the electrical charges it emits.
Research shows that the body benefits from the grounding effect at a deep cellular level, reducing widespread inflammation throughout the organs and every system of the body.
When I first heard about it, I thought the idea was weird and kind of "woo-woo". My son shared the information with me in 2020 because my health was really declining. He told me he had bought a grounding mat to rest his bare feet on while working on the computer and had noticed a decrease in inflammation in his shoulders and back. While visiting him, my knee was hurting, and he encouraged me to sleep with the mat one night; to my surprise, the next morning the pain in my knee was almost gone. He then had me watch "The Earthing Movie," a compelling documentary about the benefits of grounding that helped me understand it's one of the most natural things we can do for our overall well-being and not "woo-woo" at all. I laughed as I realized that walking around barefoot is something most of us enjoyed as children, and maybe one reason children have so much energy.

Benefits of Grounding Include:
inflammation reduction
cardiovascular improvement
stress reduction and mood improvement
More restful sleep
Chronic pain reduction
Quicker muscle repair
Relief from depression and fatigue
Accelerated wound healing in diabetics
For more information and understanding, I highly recommend watching the documentary. I believe it will convince you to make grounding a part of your health routine if you're not already doing it.
